Alhambra to celebrate 92nd birthday with drive-through party

The Alhambra Theatre is celebrating its 92nd birthday this year and there will be a drive-through party on May 28.

That’s according to a news release from the Pennyroyal Arts Council, which says the iconic marquee first lit up Hopkinsville May 28, 1928, so they will host the party on May 28 of 2020.  The drive-thru party will take place from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. and there will be popcorn, candy, t-shirts, stickers, kids’ items and additional merchandise available to reserve online or at the pick-up line in front of the marquee on South Main Street.

Celebrants must stay in their vehicles, and any items will be given to them by staff through their car windows.

Executive Director Margaret Prim says, “We’re converting the space in front of the theatre where patrons would normally gather before a show to instead take a memento home with them in honor of the celebration. We hope you’ll celebrate 92 years of magic with the Pennyroyal Arts Council by joining us May 28 in front of the theatre.”
