Although it will have a different look this year, the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1913 intends to have a Memorial Day service in honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Speaking with WHOP News, Commander John Brame says it will not take place at Riverside Cemetery this year, but rather in front of the VFW building and people will be encouraged not to group together. He says although the service is considered private, if people attend they can hopefully socially distance or stay in their vehicles.
He says they wanted to still remember and honor those heroes who fought and died to protect their fellow man.
Commander Brame says in the case of the rain the service will move inside the VFW. There will be a presentation of the colors and then brief remarks.
The service will start at 11 a.m. at the VFW located off of Skyline Drive near Kroger on May 25. There will be no service held at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West as there has been in previous years. Trenton City Commission voted to cancel their annual ceremony at Edgewood Cemetery.
