Kentucky gained an additional 191 confirmed cases of covid-19 from Monday to Tuesday and Governor Andy Beshear is warning against giving into the urge to return to normal too quickly.

During his daily covid-19 update, the governor says Kentuckians have done an excellent job at flattening the curve, and the gradual reopening depends heavily on making sure there are no spikes in new cases.

There are now two juveniles in Kentucky—a 10-year old boy and now a 16-year old—who are suffering with an unusual syndrome believed to be related to the coronavirus, where their immune system becomes overactive and they have an extensive inflammatory response.  Dr. Steven stack says the 10-year old is still in critical condition but seems to be improving and the new patient has been hospitalized as a precaution.

Much still remains unknown about coronavirus and Dr. Stack greatly urged people to keep up social distancing guidelines, wear face masks when out in public and continue thorough and frequent hand washing. He says the virus remains highly contagious and can spread rapidly in large groups, as made evident by a new study from the CDC.

As typical for Tuesdays, Kentucky saw a jump in positive cases of covid-19—there were 191 new confirmed cases from Monday to Tuesday, making the overall total 6,853 as testing continues to increase across the state.  2,546 people have recovered from the virus since the pandemic began. Ten more Kentuckians have died of the virus, bringing that total in the state up to 321. The governor urged Kentuckians to take advantage of free testing sites across the commonwealth—including the one at Tie Breaker Park

Robertson County, Tennessee gained 24 cases to 244, Montgomery County added eight to 188 and Stewart County remains at seven cases. Tennessee has 16,111 total cases and 264 deaths.
