A Hopkinsville man was among two people arrested for an arson charge Sunday in Paducah.
Police were doing a routine patrol in the area of the transient boat dock on North Water Street in Paducah and an officer saw flames coming from an abandoned houseboat.
The two occupants of the boat—54-year old Randy Roy of Hopkinsville and 70-year old William Jenkins of Paducah—were both taken in for questioning. Paducah police say both men admitted to starting the fire to rid the boat of fleas and bedbugs and they admitted to not having permission to be on board.
Roy and Jenkins were arrested and charged with third-degree arson and criminal trespass, with Roy also charged with public intoxication.
