Nine homes had to be evacuated on College Street in Elkton Saturday when a natural gas line was damaged and ruptured.
It appears a portion of the line that extends above the ground was struck by a vehicle, according to Todd County Emergency Management Director Daniel Smith. Residents of the homes were evacuated while Atmos Energy crews were dispatched to the scene to dig down to the supply line to shut it off and the roar of gas coming from the pipe could be heard loudly in the vicinity.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
