The Courier Journal named Ashland’s Jason Mays as the Boys High School Coach of the Year today. In his second season with the Tomcats, Mays led the team to a perfect 33-0 season and winning the 16th region championship along with a number two ranking in the Associated Press Top 10 poll.
Bullitt East’s Chris Stallings was named the Girls High School Coach of the Year. Stallings led the Chargers to their first 6th region title with a 25-7 record and defeated Elizabethtown 66-55 in their first Girls Sweet 16 victory before the tournament was suspended.
