NCAA grants extra year to spring sports athletes

The NCAA is giving certain college athletes an opportunity to play another season. College sports officials voted yesterday to allow Division I schools to grant athletes in spring sports another year of eligibility to make up for a season cut short by the coronavirus pandemic.

This doesn’t apply to winter sports, such as basketball. The ruling also adjusted financial aid rules to allow teams to carry more athletes on scholarship to account for incoming recruits and seniors who choose to return.
