John Hardin’s Alex Matthews was chosen today as Kentucky’s Gatorade Player of the Year. In 34 games for the Bulldogs, Matthews averaged 23 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. John Hardin lost in the 5th region final to Bardstown and finished the season 30-4. Matthews is the first John Hardin player to receive this honor.
Former Franklin Simpson boys basketball coach Frank Cardwell has been diagnosed with coronavirus. He is in isolation at a Bowling Green hospital according to his son Frank, Jr. The elder Cardwell also served as principal and athletic director at Franklin Simpson and also served as principal at Beech High School outside of Nashville.
