UK’s Howard & U of L’s Shook finalists for Naismith Awards

University of Kentucky sophomore Rhyne Howard is one of four finalists for the Naismith Trophy, recognizing the most outstanding player of the year. Howard is looking to become the first UK women’s player to win the award.

Louisville’s Kylee Shook has been selected as a finalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year. The senior forward set the school record for career blocks with 223, including 86 this season, and led the ACC in blocks per game, 2.7, which ranked 17th in the nation. Shook averaged 10.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.

Both awards, presented by the Atlanta Athletic Club, will be announced on April 1st with an award ceremony to be held later.
