Library offering free books outside during closure

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library is providing free books to the public during their closure.

A news release says the books will be available Monday through Friday, on carts outside of the library from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. as long as there is sufficient staffing and the weather allows.

Executive Director DeeAnna Sova says, “The books that are being made available are books that have been weeded from our collection or that may have been donated. She says they, “would normally sell these books in one of our bi-annual book sales, but due to the extreme circumstances, we feel that this is a small gesture that we can make to provide reading material to the community”.

The library is asking that these books not be returned to the library and to hold any additional donations until further notice.

The books will have been wiped down each day before they are set on the cart.

Library staff will be working in the building during the closure to process returns, answer phone calls, and perform other critical tasks.
