Rotary auction gets underway in April

The Rotary Club of Hopkinsville is now getting into full swing as the 70th WHOP Rotary Radio Auction gets underway next month.

Rotarian Scott Cowan is the auction chair this year and the theme is called “A Tradition of Service Above Self”.  He says while most things will be familiar to those who have watched the auction for years, there are some changes—including the removal of the Country Store, which allowed participants to get some items outside of the auction.

He says all items will be up for auction and on the boards this year.  The fundraising goal for this auction is $300,000 and Cowan says he’s confident that can be reached.

The hour club donation will remain at $174, same as the last auction and pays for a credit hour of class at HCC and the auction will take place between April 20th through the 25th at the War Memorial Building. The diner will be open for lunch that Tuesday through Friday and open for dinner Monday through Saturday.

The club gave a $200,000 donation to the Rotary Scholars program at the meeting, maintaining the commitment they’ve had to the initiative.
