The ribbon was cut Tuesday morning at Bradford Square Mall for Gordmans, which is open for business after a conversion from what had been Peeble’s.
Stage Stores, Inc. is the holding company and has been converting the Hopkinsville and Madisonville Peeble’s and the Princeton Goody’s into Gordmans stores.
Manager Yerlanda Butler called Gordmans an “off price retailer” and believes it will be a fun place to shop.
Interim Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch congratulated Gordmans on the quick conversion and reopening, saying having physical stores to go inside and see what you are buying is still important.
He also praised Gordmans for retaining the employees who had staffed Peeble’s.
Gordmans has pledged to be involved with the community and presented a $1,000 check to Hopkinsville High School.
Customers lined up at the door to get in, with the first 100 getting an insulated tote bag and a gift card.
