Jeffers’ Bend Environmental Center is gearing up for a year full of events and nature, while also preparing for their largest fundraiser in June.
Benefit for the Bend may not be until June, but preparations are already underway, from gardening to planning to gathering auction items. Betty Lingenfelter says the event is a silent auction and pork chop dinner, and they already have great items coming in.
Shannon Snorton, the daughter of the late Matt Snorton who donated so much of his time and care to Jeffers’ Bend, says one of her father’s jerseys and other memorabilia will be up for grabs.
Bonnie Jeffers says they’re currently looking for donations of auction items, but they’ll happily take volunteers also.
The money raised by the Benefit for the Bend goes back into care for the environmental center located on Metcalfe Lane in Hopkinsville, which is home to several walking paths, bird observations centers, a pond and multiple gardens. It will also help with the many programs they offer, including Take Kids Fishing, the Water Festival, NatureFest and more.
