Parts of downtown Hopkinsville to lose power for scheduled work Tuesday night

Hopkinsville Electric System will again cut off power to parts of downtown Tuesday night to allow for necessary work.

Beginning at 9:30 p.m, two sections of downtown will lose power. About an hour later, power should be restored to South Campbell Street and areas from East 12th Street and south.

The remainder of the planned power outage area is expected to remain in the dark until about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

HES says they regret the inconvenience caused by these outages, but they are necessary to upgrade the city electric grid for future reliability. During the outages, HES recommends that customers not open refrigerators or freezers to retain the cold for the foods inside. Residents may also choose to warm their houses warmer than normal before the outages occur.

If adverse weather occurs on Tuesday night, the contingency plan is to perform the work next Tuesday night, March 3rd using the same time schedule.
