Two arrested for arson in Princeton incident

Two Princeton residents have been arrested and charged in relation to a structure fire on North Plum Street that occurred early Monday morning in Princeton.

According to the Princeton Police Department, a fire was reportedly started on the front porch of the residence on North Plum, with the blaze causing damage to the home, along with damage caused by gunshots.  Investigation led officers to a residence on Cooper Circle in search of a suspect, and 30-year old James Butler of Princeton was allegedly hiding in the attic.  He reportedly had marijuana, scales and a handgun in his possession, along with a gas can.

He was arrested and charged with first-degree arson, first-degree wanton endangerment, trafficking in marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

A second suspect, 20-year old Jacori Thompson of Princeton, was arrested and charged with complicity to first-degree arson and first-degree wanton endangerment.
