Man charged with DUI after hitting utility pole

A man was charged with DUI following a single-vehicle wreck Thursday night at Lindwood Drive and McLean Avenue.

A collision report from Hopkinsville police says 49-year old Gregory Lacy of Hopkinsville made a turn too wide and drove into a ditch and struck a utility pole.

Police say he had an odor of alcohol, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol content of .236.

He was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for a blood test and arrested for aggravated DUI.
