Ribbon cutting welcomes back Ferrell’s

The ribbon was cut to make it official Thursday afternoon—Ferrell’s Snappy Service is back and better than ever after taking heavy fire damage in July.

The iconic downtown restaurant will be open to the public starting at 5 a.m. Friday morning—if everything goes well—and the community got to celebrate with a ribbon cutting Thursday.  A large crowd filled the space and spilled out onto the sidewalk, and Carolyn Ferrell says it was a truly humbling experience.  She thanked numerous people, including the businesses, contractors, and the City of Hopkinsville, which helped make the rebuild possible.

She says the support of the community has been tremendous and the 578 square foot building will continue to be here for many years to come.

Thanks to some final hour matching donations, the silent auction to get the first burgers off the new grill reached $2,750, which Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library Director DeeAnna Sova says will go to benefit the renovation of the library’s patio.

Christian County Judge-Executive Steve Tribble and Magistrate Darrell Gustafson were the winning bidders. Ferrell’s has been serving up burgers and other favorites in Hopkinsville since the mid 1930’s and has been featured in multiple national and international publications over the decades.
