Princeton man charged in theft of vehicle

A Princeton man has been charged with the theft of a vehicle from the parking lot of the Dollar General Store on North Harrison Street Friday.

According to the Princeton Police Department, the owner of the vehicle had gone inside the business for about 15 minutes and when he returned to his vehicle, it was gone from the parking lot.  The victim told officers that while inside, a white male suspect had approached him and asked about the vehicle.

The next day, police received information that the truck was located behind a residence on North Jefferson Street.  Contact was made with 37-year old Joshua Fowler of Princeton, who agreed to go with officers to the police station, where the victim identified him as the person who had approached him about the truck.

Fowler was arrested and charged with felony theft of an automobile.  He was taken to a local hospital for jail medical clearance and while there, he allegedly attempted to flee on foot.  He was stopped and additionally charged with second-degree escape and resisting arrest.
