Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott has received a raise and will earn $1.6 million a year after the school approved a new contract for several Tigers assistants.
With the raise, Elliott is now tied with Alabama’s Steve Sarkisian as the highest paid offensive assistant in college football. Meanwhile, defensive coordinator Brent Venables also his contract extended a year through 2024, although he did not receive a raise on his $2.2 million a year salary. Clemson went 14-1 this past season before losing to LSU in the National Championship game.

NFL

While Cam Newton remains optimistic about his chances of playing for the Carolina Panthers next season, the team is remaining mostly silent on the quarterback’s future.
The Panthers haven’t given any assurances they plan to bring Newton back next season. And the reality is they might not know at this point what direction they’re headed with the 31-year-old former league MVP. Newton is currently rehabbing from foot surgery.

New York Yankees left-hander James Paxton is expected to be out until May or June after undergoing surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back and the removal of a peridiscal cyst. Paxton went 15-6 with a 3.82 ERA in his first season with the Yankees in 2019, winning a career-best 10 consecutive starts in August and September.
