The Cincinnati Reds signed reliever Pedro Strop to a one-year contract for 1.825-million dollars. He becomes the fifth free agent to ink with Cincinnati this off-season. Pitchers and catchers report to spring training in Goodyear, Arizona a week from today, take physicals the next day and begin workouts a week from Saturday.
Seven players will be under consideration for election into the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame this summer. The Class of 2020 nominees are Steve Carlton, Keith Hernandez, Tom Herr, Matt Morris, Edgar Renteria, Lee Smith and John Tudor. Fan voting will open on March 1st and continue through April 17th on the Cardinals website. The seventh induction class will be announced May 8th and two players will be inducted in an August 29th ceremony at Ballpark Village.
