Rotary hears presentation on local tourism impact

Tourism continues to grow in Hopkinsville and Christian County, and the Rotary Club of Hopkinsville heard a presentation from the Convention and Visitors’ Bureau at Tuesday’s meeting.

Executive Director Brooke Jung says tourism plays a big role in Kentucky’s economy—in 2018, around 71.6 million people visited the state, to take advantage of its many tourism industries.

She says Christian County got a slice of that pie, as tourism was the fourth largest economic contributor for the county in 2018.

The tourism numbers for 2019 won’t be released for a few more months, but Jung says she wouldn’t be surprised to see high numbers.  She says the 2017 total solar eclipse brought people to the community, many of whom fell in love with the area.

To keep up with what’s happening in the community, follow Visit Hopkinsville on Facebook, where staff routinely post updates and graphics on local events. There is also a free Visit Hopkinsville app, which lists events, restaurants and more.
