Guthrie police are investigating an attempted robbery from early Saturday morning at the Hi Road Exxon station on US 79.
The adult male suspect entered the store wearing all black clothes and a backpack at about 12:30 a.m. and went into the restroom.
When he came out, he approached the cashier with a mask covering most of his face and brandished what appeared to be a silver handgun, according to the report from Guthrie Chief Dean Blumel. The suspect demanded money from the register, but the male cashier refused to open it.
The suspect then swung the gun at the cashier’s head in an attempt to intimidate him, but he still refused to open it.
The suspect then walked away from the cashier and left the store on foot toward Subway. It’s unknown if he had a vehicle anywhere in the area.
Anyone with information on the suspect should call Guthrie Police at 270-265-2501
