Census Committee hosts workshop to spread census awareness

The Christian County Complete Count Committee continues its efforts to spread awareness and encourage participation in the 2020 Census.

Partnership Specialist Aaron Dagres met with the committee to host aworkshop, and says that he will travel across the region meeting with similar groups and helping them plan to push awareness.

He says this year is their first year people can self-respond to the census online and on the phone, starting in March, though the traditional means of responding will still be available.

Dagres stressed the fact that the census is safe to participate in, as all information remains completely confidential and turned into statistics that then goes on the help with important needs for the community. Census data impacts everyone to some degree, including how much federal grant funding a community receives, developing assistance programs, distributing medical research, decision making on all levels of government and much more

The Census Bureau is still looking to hire workers locally, and more information to apply can be found online at 2020census.gov.
