The Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations continued into Tuesday at Hopkinsville Community College with a presentation by Pastor William Ferrell.
Pastor Ferrell, who is an associate minister at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cadiz, gave the presentation called “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Christian Pastor – A Glimpse, of his Life and Spiritual Calling that Fueled His Social Ministry” to a large group of students at HCC.
He says that Dr. King was labeled many things in his life, but at his core he was a preacher always, and Dr. King described what the world needs from its preachers.
Ferrell says that Dr. King showed that most anything could be resolved with open arms.
In read a few famous quotes, speaking of kindness, denying evil and moving with purpose towards ones goals.
Ferrell fielded a few questions, giving strong answers to questions of if Dr. King would have ever forsook peace—which Ferrell believed the answer was no—and if he, as a pastor, had ever questioned his faith. He answered that yes he had, as everyone does, but in the end God was too big to doubt.
