Long time Madisonville North Hopkins boys basketball coach Don Parson passed away Tuesday at age 82. Parson is eighth on the all-time wins list in Kentucky high school basketball with 726 wins to go with 325 losses. He was 588-270 at Madisonville from 1967-1997 and his 1984 Maroons team made it to the semifinals of the KHSAA Sweet 16. In all, Parson’s Maroon teams won seven 2nd region championships. The Laurel County native also coached seven seasons at the former Calhoun High School before coming to Madisonville.
