Sources tell MLB.com the St. Louis Cardinals are emerging as a suitor in the Nolan Arenado trade discussions. One source says the Cardinals and Colorado Rockies have engaged in “preliminary” trade talks involving the five time All Star third baseman and seven time National League Gold Glove winner. Arenado is an appealing option to the Redbirds if they don’t sign free agent outfielder Marcell Ozuna before the start of spring training next month.
