Two Hopkinsville residents are facing charges of felony theft after they allegedly kept the victim’s vehicle after saying they would paint it.
According to the Hopkinsville police report, 22-year old Bobby Mart and 34-year old Kyrstal Medina, both of Hopkinsville, told the victim that they would paint his work truck. They allegedly convinced him to drive them from Hopkinsville to his residence in Princeton, where they were given the keys to the truck, so they could reportedly take the truck back to their shop and start work.
They then reportedly used it for their personal transportation needs, removed multiple tools from the tool box, broke the ignition after losing the key and caused damaged to the interior. Mart allegedly told the victim that his father had been ill, which is why the paint work was taking longer than usual.
Medina allegedly admitted to using the vehicle for their own use, and that Mart had removed the tools and sold a phone that had been in the truck.
Both were arrested and charged with felony theft of an automobile and felony theft by unlawful taking for the contents of the vehicle. Mart was additionally served with a warrant for failure to appear.
