Todd County man arrested on gun, drug charges

A Todd County man was arrested on drug and gun charges following a traffic stop for speeding Saturday afternoon.

Todd County Sheriff’s Sgt. Patrick Turner stopped 29-year old David McPherson of Elkton for driving 68 mph in a 55 mph zone on Clifty-Kirkmansville Road just after noon and an arrest citation says he appeared nervous and could not provide a driver’s license.

A rifle was in plain view after he stepped out of the vehicle and a computer check showed he was a convicted felon for a theft in 2011.

McPherson allegedly admitted to smoking methamphetamine a couple hours earlier and a search of the vehicle revealed a baggie containing meth.

He was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and driving without a license.
