A Hopkinsville man is facing numerous charges following a pursuit Sunday night on the Pennyrile Parkway.
According to the Kentucky State Police report, Trooper Brett Martin was patrolling on the Parkway around 8:45 p.m. when he observed a vehicle traveling northbound at a high rate of speed.
Trooper Martin initiated his emergency equipment to stop the vehicle, but the operator began to flee. The vehicle eventually came to a stop at Western Hills Boulevard, where 36-year old Wilford Smith of Hopkinsville allegedly abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Trooper Martin, with assistance with the Hopkinsville Police Department, Christian County Sheriff’s Department, was able to take Smith into custody.
Smith was lodged in the Christian County Jail and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, second-degree fleeing or evading police on foot, DUI, resisting arrest, reckless driving, speeding and other traffic violations.
