Representative Petrie receives Friend of Kentucky Cities Award

Representative Jason Petrie of Elkton has received a 2019 Friend of Kentucky Cities Award from the Kentucky League of Cities for his work on House Bill 290.

According to news release, although it did not pass in the 2019 session of the General Assembly, House Bill 290 would have allowed a mayor or city legislative body member to remain in his or her elected position while still retiring from a career.

Representative Petrie says, “We will continue working on this legislation in hopes of passing it in future sessions, and I want to thank KLC for their support for my efforts to remove barriers to public service on the local level.”

KLC Deputy Executive Director J.D. Chaney and Director of Governmental Affairs Bryanna Carroll recognized Representative Petrie and thanked him for his advocacy of issues important to cities.
