The Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl finals began at Kroger Field in Lexington Friday.
Class A: Pikeville blanked Paintsville 43-0. Pikeville claimed its fifth state championship.
Class 3-A: Belfry defeated Bell County 30-20. The Pirates won their seventh state championship and the fifth in the last seven years.
Saturday’s Games
Class 2-A: Mayfield meets Somerset at noon Hopkinsville time.
Class 4-A: Boyle County meets Johnson Central at 3:30 Central time.
Class 5-A: Covington Catholic goes against Frederick Douglass at 7 pm Central time.
The Class 6-A game between Male and Trinity will be played at 1 pm Central time Sunday afternoon.
