21st ranked Tennessee routed Florida A&M 72-43 last night. John Fulkerson led the Vols with 15 points as Tennessee got its 31st consecutive home victory in improving to 7-1. Next up for the Vols is a Saturday afternoon home date with 15th ranked Memphis.

Austin Peay will have its final workout in Clarksville today before heading out tomorrow afternoon for Saturday night’s second round FCS playoff game at Sacramento State. Kickoff Saturday night is at 8 pm.
The Southeastern Conference announced Wednesday Tennessee wide receiver Jajuan Jennings will not play in the first half of the Vols upcoming bowl game. In a statement, the league said the suspension was due to stepping on the face of Vanderbilt punt returner Justice Shelton-Mosley, who had lost his helmet after Jennings tackled him into the Tennessee sideline during the fourth quarter of the 28-10 Vols win on Saturday.

The Atlanta Braves are beefing up their starting rotation. They’ve signed veteran left-hander Cole Hamels to a one-year, 18-million-dollar contract. The 35-year-old went 7-and-7 with a 3.81 ERA in 27 starts for the Chicago Cubs last season. Hamels has 163 career victories.
Braves third baseman Josh Donaldson is this year’s National League Comeback Player of the Year. The soon-to-be 34-year-old was named by MLB after hitting 37 home runs with 94 RBI over 155 games with Atlanta. Donaldson is currently a free agent.

Louisville area native Justin Thomas is tied for fourth at three under par 69 heading into today’s second round of the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. Gary Woodland and Patrick Reed at six under par 66 are tied for the lead.
