Todd County Fiscal Court established a Todd County Natural Gas District Board in July and the nine members have been at work since determining the feasibility of constructing a new line to provide service to local and regional residents, farms and industries.
Eston Glover chairs the board and says the proposed line would tap into existing infrastructure north of Elkton and head south, allowing a local gas district utility to distribute to those needing service.
The City of Clarksville attempted several years ago to construct a line from Todd County into Tennessee that would have allowed them to have a secondary source of natural gas, but did not want Todd County to have access to tapping in and providing local service.
Those efforts were derailed by federal regulators and Glover notes Clarksville is working with Todd County on its current effort and has members on the board.
Glover says the need for expanded natural gas service in Todd County is definitely there, it’s just a matter of determining if it’s a feasible project and how best to proceed.
