UPDATED: Five injured, Cadiz man flown to Skyline in Elkton crash

A Trigg County man was flown to a Nashville hospital and four other people were injured following a two-vehicle crash Sunday night in Elkton.

Elkton Police Officer Jakop Smith says an eastbound pickup on US 68 driven by 65-year old Debbie Moore of Franklin ran a red light and t-boned a northbound SUV on KY 181 driven by 78-year old Jerry Birl of Cadiz.  Birl was flown by Air Evac to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville and his wife, 77-year old Naomi Birl, was taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

Moore and a passenger, 81-year old Peggy Whited of Franklin, were taken by ambulance to Greenview Medical Center in Bowling Green. Another passenger in the pickup, 45-year old Brian Wilson of Franklin, was transported to Jennie Stuart.

The extent of everyone’s injuries wasn’t immediately known.

The Todd County Sheriff’s Department, Elkton Fire Department, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Todd County Rescue Squad assisted at the scene.
