An assault early Sunday morning on East 23rd Street put a man in the hospital and a woman in jail.
Officers were called to a home in the 300 block of East 23rd about 3 a.m. and found Brandon Smith in the floor with blood coming from his face and mouth, according to a police report, which says he had lacerations on his back.
Investigation determined Smith had been chased into the home and assaulted by 33-year old Lashikka Anderson of Hopkinsville and other individuals and that he had been struck with some type of weapon.
Anderson and the other suspects fled the scene in a vehicle that was later located at an address on Hazel Street.
An arrest citation says Anderson was questioned and then arrested for first-degree assault. No other suspects had been arrested, as of early Sunday morning.
Smith was admitted into Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of multiple injuries.
