Job fair, other services to be provided to Ebonite workers

More detailed information on services available for the 171 Ebonite employees who lost their jobs Friday with the plant’s shutdown could be released Monday afternoon.

Pennyrile Area Development District Executive Director Jason Vincent says officials with the West Kentucky Workforce Board have a couple calls scheduled with local officials Monday morning to finalize plans, including a job fair.

Other services will also be available for those workers and dates and times will be released when they are confirmed.

As previously reported, Ebonite was acquired by Brunswick, which is moving production of all products to its facility in Mexico.

Huhtamaki on Commerce Court is hosting its own job fair from 9 until 3 Tuesday and is inviting any Ebonite employees to apply and Comefri has also welcomed those individuals to apply for a career at its plant on Bill Bryan Boulevard.

We will continue to provide information on services available to former Ebonite workers as details are announced.
