Child bitten by dog, flown to Vanderbilt

A child was bitten by a dog and flown to a Nashville hospital Tuesday afternoon.

EMS responded to a Johnson Mill Road residence for reports of a juvenile bitten by a dog, according to Hopkinsville Fire Department Captain Michael Pendleton, who says the 5-year old victim was taken to a landing zone at Crofton Elementary and the flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The severity of the injuries are not known, but the victim reportedly suffered a bite to the ear.

The dog was seized by the Christian County Sherriff’s Department and taken to the Christian County Animal Shelter to be quarantined.
