Todd Central honors veterans with annual ceremony

Todd County Central High School honored dozens of local men and women who served their country in the armed forced during its annual Veterans Day service Friday morning.

Among those honored was Bryan Blount, the only World War II veteran able to participate in the service this year. He received a special recognition from the crowd and from the keynote speaker—retired Brigadier General Charles Jones.

General Jones noted that it has always required men and women serving in the military to keep Americans free.

He thanked the veterans in the crowd—many who came before his service that began with the Kentucky National Guard in the early 1980’s—for offering him the opportunity to make his own life choices.

General Jones says he chose to serve his country so that young people like the students at Todd Central could also grow up in a free country.

Todd Central student Emma Petrie sang the national anthem, the Fort Campbell Honor Guard presented the colors and the presidents of each class played a role in the service.

We will air a majority of ceremony Sunday morning at 9 on Lite Rock 98.7 and online at lite987whop.com.
