More charges filed in counterfeit cash investigation

Two men are facing charges related to an investigation by Hopkinsville police regarding counterfeit cash.

Twenty-four-year-old Jason Godsey of Hopkinsville was arrested earlier this week for allegedly using fake money to buy a video game system from a Fort Campbell soldier he met through Facebook Marketplace and Godsey was charged with three more counts of first-degree forgery and theft by deception Thursday at the Christian County Jail.

Three new arrest citations allege he printed the fake cash and then gave it to 24-year old Cortez Johnson of Hopkinsville, who allegedly used counterfeit bills to purchase property in three separate incidents on October 23.

Johnson is charged with three counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and theft by deception.
