Two women arrested on animal cruelty charges

Two women were arrested on animal cruelty charges following an investigation Tuesday on West Seventh Street.

Officers went to a home near the US 68-Princeton Road split to check the welfare of animals living there and found two dead dogs and 19 dogs in extremely poor health, according to arrest citations for 54-year old Tracey White and 36-year old Tabitha Breedlove of Hopkinsville.

Police say one small dog had a broken lower jaw, the dogs were in pens with excessive amounts of fecal matter stacked on the ground and it appeared all of the animals had not eaten in weeks.

White and Breedlove were arrested and charged with second-degree cruelty to animals.
