Pennyrile Electric receives Governor’s Health and Safety Award

Pennyrile Electric has been honored with the Governor’s Health and Safety Award from the Kentucky Labor Cabinet, making this the seventh time it’s received the award.

According to a news release, the rural electric cooperative has 752,987 hours worked free of lost time due to injury and illness. The award recognizes businesses for outstanding safety and health performance and encourages the development of programs designed to reduce and even eliminate occupational injuries and illnesses.

Pennyrile serves more than 48,000 members in Christian, Trigg, Logan, Todd, Muhlenberg, Lyon, Caldwell, Butler and Simpson counties with 110 employees. They maintain 5,146 miles of distribution line supported by 99,317 poles.

President and CEO Alan Gates says, “This is a notable achievement, earned by demonstrating a proactive safety culture and protecting our most valuable resource – our employees. I would like to extend my appreciation to each employee for your diligence, self-motivation, and commitment to safety. We will continue to keep safety as the highest priority and go home to our families each night.”
