It will be a close call on whether rain moves out of the area before young ones head out for trick or treating on Halloween afternoon and evening, but Hopkinsville’s downtown trick or treat will go on rain or shine.
Officials with Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation say the event will take place from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Main Street unless there are severe storms, which is not currently in the forecast.
The Christian County Sheriff’s Department is saying to check its Facebook page for any potential updates or changes to its Operation: Safe Halloween event from 5 until 6 p.m. Thursday.
The National Weather Service in Paducah is currently forecasting rain to slowly come to an end during the late morning or early afternoon hours Thursday, with two-to-three inches likely to fall across western Kentucky between Wednesday and Thursday morning.
Trick or treaters will want to bundle up, as the cold front bringing the rain will also bring much lower temperatures and wind chills in the mid-30’s.
