Ground broken for new JSMC medical office building

Ground was broken Wednesday morning for construction of a nearly 50,000 square foot Jennie Stuart Health Medical Office Building at Fort Campbell Boulevard and Eagle Way Bypass.

Jennie Stuart President and CEO Eric Lee says the $18 million building will be a state of the art facility for medical care in the region.

He says it will expand and improve the services Jennie Stuart Health can offer.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center will have about 5,000 square feet in the facility. Jim Corum is vice president of business development and says Vanderbilt will operate a cardiology clinic in the new building when it opens and services are likely to expand in the future.

The building is tentatively scheduled to open in October of 2020.

Board members, local dignitaries and others in the community spoke, saying it took partnerships between many to make construction of the new facility possible.
