Senator McConnell condemns withdraw from Syria

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is once again criticizing President Trump for withdrawing troops from northern Syria.

Speaking on the Senate floor, the Kentucky Republican called it a “premature exit from Syria” that will have consequences.

McConnell emphasized that there needs to be sustained American leadership in the region.  The House of Representatives passed a resolution Tuesday condemning Trump’s decision and Turkey’s actions but McConnell says it isn’t strong enough.

Senator Rand Paul of Bowling Green has said he supports President Trump’s decision.
