Two arrested on felony charges following early morning fight

Two Tennessee residents were arrested on serious charges following a fight early Wednesday morning at Colonette Drive and Big Blue Court.

Hopkinsville police charged 20-year old Lanautica Smith of Clarksville with two counts of first-degree assault and 25-year old Brian Macklin of Union City, Tennessee with four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

A police report says Smith got behind the wheel of her vehicle during the fight and struck Tevin Branch and Korbyn Newsome with the automobile, sending Newsome to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for injuries.

Witnesses told police that Macklin attempted to run over Korbyn Newsome and Gabriel Newsome with his vehicle during the fight and that he nearly struck a total of four people.

Both suspects were lodged in the Christian County Jail.
