Chris Gilkey was announced as the new director of student services and personnel for Trigg County Public Schools on Monday.
According to the school district, Gilkey is a Hopkinsville native and brings 25 years of public education experience to his new position. Gilkey’s education career began in the Christian County Public School System where he worked as a social studies teacher at Christian County Middle School. He later went on to serve in many other positions.
For around a decade, Gilkey served as the principal of CCPS alternative education programs, and he most recently served as the assistant principal at Bluegrass Learning Academy during the 2025-26 school year.
In his new position, Gilkey will be responsible for overseeing student services, personnel, employee relations and student support operations. Gilkey says he believes his 10 years of experience as an educator and 15 years as a school administrator will prove to be an asset to foster positive relationships with school personnel and students.
Trigg County Public Schools Superintendent Rex Booth says Gilkey understands that strong schools are built on strong relationships and is confident he will be an incredible asset to their students, employees and community.
