Starting in September, Hopkinsville Solid Waste Enterprise announced it will transition from weekly bulk item collection to a twice-a-month collection schedule to reduce operational costs.
Customers who have their garbage picked up on Monday or Tuesday will have bulk-item pickup services during the first and third weeks of each month. Then, customers who have their garbage picked up on Thursday or Friday will have bulk-item pickup services during the second and fourth weeks of each month.
Those who have Wednesday garbage pickup and live in the Millbrooke Drive, Great Oaks Drive, Donna Drive, Deepwood Drive, Irish Circle and Pyle Lane areas will have bulk-item pickup services during the first and third weeks of each month. Then, those who live in the Stone Valley Drive, Gateway Drive, Wayside Drive, Linda Drive and Cox Mill Estate areas, along with all Mont neighborhoods, will have bulk-item pickup services during the second and fourth weeks of the month.
During bulk item pick-up weeks, customers are advised to have those items at the curb by 5 a.m. on Monday and collection may occur anytime during the week. Hopkinsville Solid Waste General Manager Bryan Silver says the service changes allow them to continue providing bulk-item collection while helping manage costs and minimize impacts on customer rates.
