Fair Board Chair spotlights their plans for the 75th Western Kentucky State Fair

The Western Kentucky State Fair will be back in town from June 26 to July 4, and Fair Board Chair Kent Boyd recently spotlighted what they have in store for the community.

This year marks the fair’s 75th anniversary, and to celebrate the milestone, the fair board sold anniversary t-shirts. Boyd says those who wear the shirt on the fair’s opening day will receive free admission.

On June 27, Boyd says the pageants kick off with the infant, baby and tiny tot pageants in the morning and the Ms. and Mrs. Western Kentucky State Fair Pageants in the evening. The pageants continue the next day with the youth pageants in the afternoon.

Then, on June 29, the Ms. Plus Pageant will be in the evening. All pageants will be hosted in the convention center.

Boyd expects that one of their most well-attended events will be the Demolition Derby on June 27 at 7 p.m. at the Grandstands, and tickets are $10.

On June 30, Pennyrile Electric members have free fair admission with a coupon until 6 p.m., and on July 1, active-duty military, dependents, veterans and first responders with identification. Then, on July 2, Kentucky Farm Bureau members have free admission with a coupon until 6 p.m.

On July 3, the Mid-South Truck and Tractor Pulls kick off and it concludes on July 4. Boyd says drivers will be coming from across the country to compete. The competition will be in the Grandstands, and tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for those ages 6 to 12.

Not only is the fair board celebrating the fair’s 75th anniversary, but Boyd says they are also celebrating the nation’s 250th birthday. The fair will conclude on July 4 at 9:15 p.m. with a fireworks show.
