Details released in Clarksville home invasion shooting

The Clarksville Police Department has released more information concerning a shooting between an intruder and a homeowner on Trenton Road early Monday morning.

According to a news release, it happened at about 1:40 a.m. at Trenton Village Townhomes, where reports were indicating a homeowner had shot a man who entered her home. Further investigation determined the homeowner was home alone when her dogs began barking, waking her up.

She told officers she heard someone trying to get in the front door and believed it could have been her husband attempting to get inside, so she unlocked the door and opened it. That’s when an unknown male subject entered the residence, and a struggle ensued. She ultimately fired her weapon, striking the man.

It was determined that the man involved lives in the same complex. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was flown to a Nashville for treatment, where is currently in critical condition.
