Tuesday brings a Primary Election, folks encouraged to get out and vote

Tuesday could be the big day for several local candidates, as this Primary Election could determine several of the local offices that are up for grabs.

The polls open at 6 a.m. and will stay open until 6 p.m. Tuesday, but they’ve already been open really, as Early Voting took place Thursday, Friday and Saturday of last week. Turnout was slow for early voting, with Christian County Clerk Melinda Humphries reporting that 1,615 people took advantage of the polls being open, along with absentee voting and mail-in ballots. She’s staying hopeful that everyone was saving their votes for Tuesday and will turn out big.

Humphries says to give yourself plenty of time to vote, as things get busier at different times throughout the day, and there are 13 voting centers you can use throughout the county.

As for the results, she says they’ll release them all at once on their Facebook page and website and hopefully without too long of a wait.

In Christian County, those voting centers include the James E. Bruce Convention Center, Walnut Street Center, the Senior Citizens Center, the Christian County Courthouse, Indian Hills Elementary, Sinking Fork Baptist Church, Pembroke Baptist, the Crofton Tornado Building, New Palestine Baptist, New Barren Springs Baptist, South Christian Elementary School, the Oak Grove Community Center and the Inspire Early Learning Academy.
